Welcome!

For the past two years, the Hawaii Teamsters has worked to resolve a labor dispute with the Mainland owner of Times Supermarket. The owner, however, has been unwilling to bring about a resolution, unjustly leaving many longtime employees without jobs.

The company has now demonstrated its disregard for the community as well. By purchasing Star Markets and closing Star’s Moiliili and Ewa Beach stores, Times has turned its back on shoppers in those communities while leaving even more employees without jobs. This after publicly stating it would be business as usual for customers and employees.

The actions Times takes today are no better than they were two years ago when we posted the following message on this site.

We believe that:

-     Workers in Hawaii deserve respect and fair treatment from their employer.

-     Local consumers deserve the highest quality and service for their hard-earned dollars.

-     Local businesses deserve to make a fair profit when they meet their obligations to employees, customers and the community by acknowledging our island culture and values through moral, ethical and responsible actions.

Times Supermarket refuses to see that its cut-throat Mainland ways do not work in the Islands. The company refuses to do the right thing by its workers, customers and our local community. Putting profits before people does not work in Hawaii!

Our response to the unfair actions of Times is that we will SHOP ELSEWHERE until they demonstrate that they deserve our respect, trust and shopping confidence.
